Edinburgh Student wins Essay Prize
Edinburgh politics student Naomi Ralph has been awarded the 2008 UK Political Studies Association prize for best undergraduate essay on women and politics.
Naomi was nominated for the prize by the team who teach the Honours course 'Contemporary Feminist Thought' for her essay entitled 'Is drag a transgressive strategy or does its performance merely amplify gendered (and raced) oppression?'. This is the third year running that a CFT student has won this national competition.
Naomi received her prize of £150 at the Women and Politics specialist group reception at the First European Conference on Politics and Gender in Belfast, January 2009.
