Mackay speaks at Women into Politics EU-funded event in Ireland
Fiona Mackay will be in conversation with Sarah Brett, BBC Radio Foyle, on September 29 as part of a two day cross border seminar examining strategies to achieve a gender balance in politics in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
In May this year the Irish Government announced a decision that political parties will lose half of their state funding unless at least 30% of the candidates they put forward for election are women.
The EU-funded seminar - involving politicians, NGOs, activists and academics - will consider this development and other trends in the three polities in global context.
It is being organised by the Women into Public Life (WIPL) Irish- Scottish partnership and funded by the EU INTERREG IVA Programme.
