'Listening to Fathers' report launch
November the 21st saw the formal launch of a report, 'Listening to Fathers', which was the result of a Knowledge Exchange Fellowship involving the University of Edinburgh and Circle Scotland, a Family support organisation.
Knowledge Exchange Fellowships are designed to promote collaboration between voluntary, public and private sector organisations and the University. It provides Fellows with an academic mentor and allows them access to University resources to work on a project of mutual interest.
'Listening to Fathers' considers the experiences of fathers involved in the child protection system. It was undertaken by Nick Smithers, Fathers Support Worker at Circle supported by Mark Smith, senior lecturer in social work. The launch was attended by around 60 policy makers and practitioners and also three of the fathers who participated in the research.
The report received front page coverage in The Herald newspaper and on BBC Radio Scotland.
