SSPS Welcomes IASH-SSPS Visiting Fellow
Welcome to eminent political scientist Professor Louise Chappell who joins us this semester to take up a Visiting Research Fellowship sponsored jointly by the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh.
Louise is Professor in the School of Social Sciences and a member of the Australian Human Rights Centre at the University of New South Wales where she is completing a four-year Australian Research Council Future Fellowship on the International Criminal Court.
Louise will be delivering our annual Chrystal Macmillan Lecture on October 8, entitled: Ten Years On: Is the International Criminal Court Delivering for Women?
Louise’s current research examines the pursuit of gender justice at the International Criminal Court over its first decade. This involves tracing the implementation of the ICC’s innovative gender provisions across each aspect of the Court’s operations - the Judiciary, Office of the Prosecutor and the Registry. Louise has published a number of articles in the area and is in the process of completing a research monograph on the ICC for Oxford University Press.
Louise works closely with PIR’s Fiona Mackay, and other international colleagues, through the Feminism and Institutionalism International Network based here at University of Edinburgh.
