MSc Global Environment & Society students win Clinton Global Initiative award

Six students from our new MSc GEPS programme have won two prestigious awards from the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). The CGI is a growing network of young leaders developing innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges.

The awards will help fund  two linked projects developed by the GEPS students. ‘Beeline’ is an urban beekeeping project which will combine biodiversity and environmental conservation with education on a community level. ‘Go Wild Edinburgh’ is an urban wild flower project designed to enhance biodiversity locally and provide an educational resource for the local community.

‘Beeline’ will be led by Anna Brand, Kathie Pollard, and Emily Gubbini.  ‘Go Wild Edinburgh’ will be led by Ross Pirie, Kaisa Pietila and Laurene Bellevaux.

The chosen students have been invited to attend the CGI University taking place March 2014 at Arizona State University.

PIR’s Dr Elizabeth Bomberg is academic mentor of CGI and will be working with the teams as they develop their projects and seek to raise further funds.
