Rachel Hobley Wins Adam Ferguson Prize
The prize was awarded for her outstanding contributions in Sociology 1
Adam Ferguson was Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, one of the leading individuals in the Scottish Enlightenment of the 18th Century, and a founding figure in Sociology. In awarding this prize we recognise that the winner is capable of sustained intellectual focus and expression at the very highest level we can ask of students at the University of Edinburgh. She has demonstrated an exceptional ability to think independently and critically about the course material, to rigorously assess sources and construct robust arguments around them.
