School of Social and Political Science: About

Delwar Hussain Listed in British Bangladeshi Power 100

Lecturer and Chrystal Macmillan Fellow, Dr Delwar Hussain, has been named as one of the British Bangladeshi Power 100, a group of modern-day leaders helping to 'shape Britain for the better.'

The BBPI 100 celebrates the talents of the most inspiring British Bangladeshi people in 2017 from every walk of life - from fashion to finance, from technology to food, from theatre to philanthropists.

Delwar Hussain, Social Anthropologist, joined the School of Social and Political Science as a Chrystal Macmillan Fellow after completing his doctorate at the University of Cambridge. He is the author of Boundaries Undermined: the Ruins of Progress on the Bangladesh-India border, which has been received as an important intervention in discussions of the border, of borderlands in general, and of development and state-formation in South Asia. Delwar draws inspiration from his own experiences of life growing up in Spittalfields, East London and from the Bangladeshi diaspora.
