Niki Vermeulen and Team Win Tam Dalyell Prize

The Tam Dalyell Prize is awarded annually for excellence in engaging the public with science. This is the first time that a social scientist has won the award.

Dr Niki Vermeulen and her team have been awarded the prize for their work on the Curious Edinburgh Project.

Working with partners across the University and cultural organisations, including the National Museum of Scotland, Surgeons Hall Museum and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Curious Edinburgh provides app-based walking tours of Edinburgh, which explore the city’s rich heritage in the history of science, technology and medicine.

Niki's team participated in the 2016 Edinburgh International festival opening event Deep Time, and this year partnered with the Edinburgh International Science Festival through the Moments in Time installation on the Mound.

Niki will give the Tam Dalyell Prize Lecture on 15th April as part of the 2018 Edinburgh International Science Festival.
