Professor John Peterson memorial fund invites donations to support postgraduate students

A new fund has been set up in memory of University of Edinburgh Politics Professor John Peterson to support postgraduate students, and is now open for donations.

The John Peterson Memorial Fund will support teaching and learning in Politics and International Relations (PIR), in honour of John’s long career as Professor of International Politics at the University.

It will support a range of studentships in PIR at the School of Social and Political Science, with particular focus on PhD study in areas linked to EU politics, US foreign policy, and transatlantic relations.

Anyone can make a donation to the fund and support more people to access study in PIR.

Professor John Peterson

Professor John Peterson was at the forefront of teaching and research in areas including US-European relations, EU politics and policy, US foreign policy and EU trade policy. 

His work at Edinburgh engaged countless students through his lectures and seminars, his supervision of research students and his leadership of programmes, such as the MSc in International and European Politics.
