Research interests

My research draws on the case of the Public Investment Fund to investigate the effects of domestic political structures and state-society relations on sovereign wealth management in Saudi Arabia. I am exploring the political dimension underpinning the use of sovereign wealth funds as instruments of economic statecraft, how SWFs are embedded in the kingdom's political economy of rent distribution, and the extent to which these dynamics shape SWF design and use.
