Working Title

To what extent and in what ways do the current structures and institutions of public police forces in Northern  Ireland and Scotland provide for 'democratic' policing?

Research Interests

Fiona completed both her undergraduate degree (Law) and her MSc (Policy Studies) at the University of Edinburgh and is now in her first year of PhD. Fiona has been awarded a Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR) studentship and her research will focus on policing and democracy in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The aim of the project is to map out existing mechanisms for democratic accountability of public policing bodies in both states, with a view to answering the primary research question 'To what extent and in what ways do the current structures and institutions of public police forces in Northern Ireland and Scotland provide for 'democratic' policing?'
