COVID-19 and resilient health systems: an evaluation of policies, planning and practice in Liberia
Profile
Saqif is a Consultant at the Integrated Health Services Department at the World Health Organization headquarters working on health services resilience, COVID-19 preparedness and response, and quality improvement in low resource settings supported by the UK FCDO and DoH, KOICA and USAID. His PhD research aims to understand the extent to which policies, planning and responses to past and ongoing emergencies in Liberia, including Ebola and COVID-19, have affected capacities relating to health system resilience. Specifically, the ability of health systems and services to: effectively prepare for and respond to public health emergencies and the associated changes in demand; maintain essential, routine and quality health services; and preserve population health.
