Section: Research Masters Programmes
The MSc by Research is a flexible one-year full-time degree which combines hands-on training in social research skills, with the opportunity to start work on an individual project. In many cases this project will form the basis of a subsequent PhD. Students must submit a portfolio of work, including a dissertation and a number of research-related training assignments. Students proceeding to PhD will normally submit a dissertation in the form of an extended research proposal for their doctoral project. At the discretion of the College Postgraduate Studies Committee, students registered for the MSc by Research may be able to count this towards the required minimum registration for the PhD.
The MSc by Research can also be taken on a part-time basis over a period of 2 years.
