Accessing New Opportunities and Achieving Livelihood Outcomes in Zimbabwe's New Resettlement Areas
The research is a mixed-methods case study of resettlement areas in Mashonaland Central Province, Zimbabwe. The aim is to generate reliable empirical data about the lives and livelihoods of new settler communities in Zimbabwe's new resettlement areas, following the 'Fast-Track' land reform programme of 2000-2003. Specific attention is given to the contexts, conditions and trends as well as institutional and organisational processes that shape and influence livelihood opportunities, strategies and outcomes at the individual, household and community-level. In addition to generating much-needed empirical data, the study can also provide useful inputs for the land policy-making process in Zimbabwe and elsewhere in the southern African region.
