Application deadline for September 2012 entry is 15th August 2012

Welcome from the Programme Director

Alison SmithWelcome to the MSc in Social Research website. If you are interested in this course then you will already have some appreciation of the importance of high quality social research. If you join us you will be able to deepen your understanding of, and skills in, research methods for carrying out high quality applied social research.  Our course is ideal for those looking to pursue a career in social research, as well as a preliminary step towards doctoral research in the social sciences. Our alumni are now working as social researchers in local, national and international organisations in both the statutory and voluntary sectors, as well as some in the commercial sector.

The MSc in Social research is designed to provide a firm grounding in the theory, philosophy and methods of social research, as well as opportunities to develop an area of substantive interest within the social sciences.

A Postgraduate Certificate in Social Research is also available, which consists of three taught research training courses only.

It combines compulsory training in a combination of quantitative and qualitative social research skills, as well as the essentials of research design.

Have a look through our subfolders and if you still have questions, phone or send me an email.

Best wishes,

Dr Alison Koslowski
