This lunchtime Ethics Forum session examines the demands that a commitment to social responsibility implies for educational institutions, and how these demands might conflict with widely supported principles of academic freedom.

The University is committed to creating a socially responsible environment for research and learning, but could this threaten academic freedom? Are there some topics that a socially responsible university should not research? Should research funding be scrutinised using the standards of sustainability and social responsibility?

Short talks from a panel of speakers will be followed by a Q&A/discussion session. All are welcome to attend and take part in discussion.
