Section: Knowledge Exchange
In Social and Political Science, we have always understood knowledge exchange to be an integral element of a professional social science, both individually and collectively. In research, teaching and other related activities, both staff and students in the School interact with the public, with professional groups and with policy makers in a range of mutually enriching ways. For more information, contact Catherine Lyall, Director of Knowledge Exchange, School of Social and Political Science.
Susan Deacon, Honorary Professor in the School of Social and Political Science, has published her report Joining the Dots: A Better Start for Scotland’s Children. Prof Deacon was commissioned by the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Michael Russell MSP, to lead a dialogue and bring forward suggestions for practical action. As part of this project, Professor Deacon invited the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships to provide a distillation of their research on this topic to inform her work.
The 2010 prize was won by Margarita Kominou, Sociology PhD student, for her project public event on Ethical Consumption. Read more about Margarita's research on her blog
In 2011 we will award two Knowledge Exchange prizes, one for students and the other for staff. Look out for the call in May.
