Cold War and post-Cold War studies, kinship and gender, ritual and personhood, history and memory, feminism, Eastern Germany, Anthropology of Europe, Anthropology of the state, Migration and citizenship

I am interested in the connections between kinship and politics, which I explored in my PhD thesis through the locus of a secular coming-of-age ritual celebrated in eastern Germany. Thesis abstract available here:
