National Student Survey 2008
SPS encourages all final-year students to participate in the National Student Survey, launched in the week of 21 January. Win Amazon Vouchers: Complete the survey online by the 8th of February and you will be entered into a draw to win one of five £30 Amazon vouchers.
The survey asks all final year undergraduate students in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and at a number of Scottish institutions for their views on the quality of their degree programmes. If you are in your final year of an undergraduate course you can complete the survey now.
The NSS is strongly supported by the National Union of Students (NUS) and Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA):
"The National Student Survey gives final year students the chance to reflect on their time at Edinburgh University and let their views be heard. The results not only help inform future students about studying at Edinburgh, they also direct the university and the Students' Association to make the changes needed to improve the student experience.
I'd urge all final year students to do the survey - it only takes a few minutes and for the results to be meaningful we need as many responses as possible!"

We Use Your Feedback
Last year we received a great deal of useful data from students' responses to the Survey, particularly in relation to the feedback provided to students about their coursework. As a consequence, we are working closely with EUSA in order to improve coursework feedback. This year's survey contains a specific University of Edinburgh question seeking students' examples of good practice in this area.
How the Survey is Conducted
The National Student Survey is carried out for the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) by Ipsos UK. Final year undergraduate students will be contacted by Ipsos in January or February and invited to fill in the survey online. Students who have not completed the survey online by mid-February will be contacted by letter and, subsequently, by telephone.
It's easier quicker and greener to complete online. If you are in your final year of an undergraduate course you can complete the survey now.
Students are not required to complete the survey and those who wish to opt out are free to do so. The results of the survey are expected to be publicly available in September 2008.
