School of Social and Political Science (SPS) academic Dr Claire Haggett has won the Cohort Lead of the Year Award in the Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA) Teaching Awards.

These student-led awards recognise the pivotal role that staff play in the student experience at the University of Edinburgh, from lecturers, tutors, supervisors and personal tutors to professional services staff. They provide students with an opportunity to thank staff for their hard work and celebrate the best of teaching and support here.

Dr Haggett, a Senior Lecturer in Sociology, is the Cohort Lead for years 3 and 4 of Sustainable Development at SPS.

EUSA said: "Claire was praised by her students for quickly picking up every issue and making sure they were resolved. Claire goes above and beyond for her students, from celebrating students’ achievements to lifting them up when they were going through rough academic patches. Claire has also made the Sustainable Development degree feel like a genuine community through her commitment and her wide range of events."

Dr Haggett said: "It is such an honour to have been given this award because it is such a pleasure and a privilege to teach such outstanding students. Their commitment, energy and positivity makes them a joy to teach and to know. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to work with them and very grateful for the terrific support from colleagues in Sustainable Development, Sociology and the School."

Congratulations, Claire!
