Policy and Governance Group
The Policy and Governance Research Group explores aspects of the policy-making process with a particular attention to the role of knowledge and actors in the making of policy and the governing of contemporary societies.
It comprises more than 50 academics and doctoral students, who are based not only in the School of Social and Political Science but across the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and beyond.
These are researchers with a diverse range of substantive interests explored across a range of geographical settings. We are interested in what government is and does, in public, social and foreign affairs and at national, local and international levels. This includes processes of policy formulation, decision making, welfare interventions, implementation and regulation involving the state, its sub-units, and non-state actors, forms and institutions. Our theoretical interests are directly related to our concern with practice and with new conceptions of what it means to govern.
The conveners of the group are Sotiria Grek and Natalie Papanastasiou, Social Policy.
