Background
Associate Professor of African History and Institutions at the Department of Humanities, Social Science and Cultural Industries at the University of Parma, Italy and Research Associate at the African Centre for Migration and Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Her work focuses on the intersection between religion, politics and development in Africa with a particular interest in the dialectic relationship between religious organisations, religious values and the public sphere. In the last decade, her research paid particular attention to the intersection between Christianity, morality and sexuality in East Africa and the way religious values and actors influence policy and public action in the region.
