Research interests

My research interests include migration, borders, solidarity work, and the Mediterranean. In 2022, I was awarded a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship to research immigration detention, the way this failed policy travels internationally, and resistance to it in the UK, US, and Australia.

Background

I am an academic and activist. I received my DPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford in 2012. My previous research projects include work on migrants journeys, migration solidarity work, and Malta and Cyprus as migration gatekeepers in the European Union. I joined Edinburgh University in 2023, having worked previously at the University of Glasgow and Waterloo University in Canada.
