PhD Thesis Working Title: Climate change and localisation: understanding local humanitarian workers’ knowledge and experience of climate change in Africa.
I am currently researching local humanitarians’ understanding, and experience of climate change, with a view to assessing how this knowledge is being incorporated into plans to provide appropriate, context specific humanitarian interventions, in complex emergencies.
My other research interests include climate change and health, climate change displacement and migration, humanitarian intervention, and children in fragile and conflict affected states.
Background
I am a former Environmental Conservation graduate and researcher with over 10 years experience in the Environmental Education sector in the United Kingdom and postgraduate degrees in both Global Challenges and Social Research from the University of Edinburgh. I have experience in both qualitative and quantitative research for the conservation management sector in the U.K. Beyond academia I have experience in setting up and running successful small businesses. I have also volunteered in a range of roles in the charity sector involving support work, advocacy and team management.
I am currently undertaking my PhD as part of a 1+3 ESRC funded scholarship awarded by the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences.
