Background
I am a qualified social worker with several years' experience of Child Protection in a Local Authority Children and Families practice team in the North West of Edinburgh. I then worked as a senior practitioner in a specialist Barnardo's service for children and young people who had displayed harmful sexual behaviour. My next post was as a Teaching Fellow in Social Work at the University of Edinburgh, before I undertook a PhD examining social worker decision making in cases of sibling sexual abuse. Following my PhD I co-ordinated child protection education at Edinburgh Napier University, before setting up a brand new Master of Social Work programme in collaboration with new Masters programmes in Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. I returned to the University of Edinburgh to take up a Social Work Lecturer position in January 2022.
