Background

I come from an interdisciplinary academic background, having studied Human Sciences and Science Communication previously. I am now working on my PhD project which looks at the knowledge practices of teenage girls in the Netherlands and Scotland on the subject of sex and sexuality.

My main research interests are gender, intersectionality, girlhood, sexuality, knowledge practices, science communication and comics.

PhD overview

My proposed PhD research project looks into the knowledge practices of teenage girls in the Netherlands and Scotland on the subject of sexuality and sexual practices. Using the Deleuzian concept of assemblages it will explore the different knowledges created, shared and received by teenage girls, in a response to the moral panics surrounding girlhood and sexuality. For this purpose, participants will be interviewed and subsequently asked to keep video diaries. The aim of the research is to add the voices of teenage girls to the existing scholarship of teenage sexuality.
