Exam boards met throughout October and November 2023 to ratify course marks and award decisions from 2022/23 which were delayed as a result of industrial action. Results and decisions are communicated to students via www.myed.ed.ac.uk and an automated email will be sent to your University email account to alert you that a result or decision is available. (See also University account expired, below.)

- Review of classification
A number of students were awarded a classified degree in June or September, with credit awarded 'on aggregate' where marks were delayed.
In all cases where delayed results become available, classification decisions will be revisited. If you're eligible, a higher classifications will be awarded. Classification decisions will not be lowered (unless penalties for academic misconduct have been applied).
In order to review your classification, we may unpublish, recalculate and then republish your award. If this is the case, you will be notified when your award is republished, even where there is no change in classification.
If your classification has increased, we will contact you to arrange a new degree certificate.- Progression decisions
For some students, there may be a delay between the publication of final marks and a progression decision.
We know that you may be worried about courses that you haven't passed, but please wait until your progression decision has been published before contacting staff about next steps. If you have not achieved a pass mark for a course, the Progression Board may be able to award you credit on aggregate in some situations, instead of asking you to undertake further assessment.
If your progression decision remains deferred as a result of courses not passed (including null sits for special circumstances), we will contact you with details of further assessment required on these courses. We will be available at that time to answer any questions you have and provide further support.- October/November Course Boards - Outcomes
The vast majority of marks on courses from 2022/23 were ratified at the October/November Exam Boards or at Boards held earlier in the year.
Below is a list of courses where the marks are not yet ratified and are still considered provisional. When marks are ratified and published after the dates listed in the section Publication dates - award marks and progression, we will update students accordingly.

- Understanding your student record and course outcomes impacted by the Marking and Assessment Boycott
Boards of Examiners who consider your course results were be given detailed information about the impact of any disruption to each of your courses, so that they could take this into account when deciding your results and making decisions on your progression and degree award.
Having been given information about impact of disruption to your courses, Boards of Examiners sought to agree results where they were able. Where information available was incomplete, Boards had to make decisions on how to proceed. Decisions are individual to each student and following the publication of results and progression you may see a number of different outcomes on your student record. These are summarised via the link below.
Summary of course outcomes impacted by the Marking and Assessment Boycott
- Release of Feedback
Feedback will be returned to students on or around the publication date (see Publication dates - award marks and progression, above).
