The mobilisation of 1948 Palestinians in Israel in the summer of 2021 had a powerful impact at multiple levels. Its unifying force among Palestinians in different geographies has been remarkable. It also shed light on the structural nature of the Israeli state as a product of a settler-colonial project and highlighted the living legacy of this structure and the role of Palestinian agency in negotiating it and reframing its discursive contours. This panel explores the implications and legacies of the latest mobilisation among the 1948 Palestinians. The event is be part of the Contemporary Middle East Series-- a public lecture series at the University of Edinburgh’s Politics and International Relations department.
