The Anthropology 'Teaching' Collection - Website and Zine Launch
Description
On Thursday, 3rd of April, from 4.30 there will be a launch event on the ground floor of CMB, which will be culmination of a project undertaken by a group of our UG students, in the context of the “Anthropology in Practice” course, to better understand, care for, and interpret the “anthropology teaching collection”, which is the long-neglected collection of ethnographic stuff and cultural belongings that inhabits the 5th floor. Some of this material came to Edinburgh in the late 1950s/early 1960s and in many ways the history of this collection is also the, somewhat neglected and forgotten history, of anthropology at Edinburgh.
The students have accomplished pretty amazing things on limited resources, but with the kind support of folks in SPS facilities, the SDO, TEL team, and Heritage Collections at the University, and we invite you to come along, celebrate this work, and learn a little more about some stuff that inhabits our everyday working lives.
