Anti-Abortion Testimony and Legislative Debate in US Early Abortion Bans

22 February 2024
12:00 - 13:00

Venue

Violet Laidlaw Room, CMB

Description

In 2019 a swarm of early abortions bans were passed across state legislature in the United States. Following the US Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe versus Wade many of these early abortion bans went into effect. As a result, abortion access has been severely limited in many parts of the country. This seminar will examine the arguments used by lawmakers in advocating for these limits on abortion access—and chart the way forward as these new laws are challenged in state and federal courts by abortion rights advocates.
