Description

We are very pleased to invite you to an informal social gathering of the Citizenship and Migration Research (CMR) Network. We will be holding a social lunch from 11am-1pm on the 8th May in Project Room 1.06 in 50 George Square. This will give people working on related themes a chance to meet each other, introduce our work, and propose events for the coming year.

The CMR Network is a result of merging the Citizens, Nations and Migration Network and the Displacement Research Network. We intend to engage academics and PG students, and also to reach beyond the University to academics and students in other Universities, as well as relevant persons in government, civil society organisations and the media. We also want to draw on the network's extensive research and experience with displacement, refugees, and citizenship to influence University policies on these issues, such as developing further support for refugee students and scholars.

Over the course of 2024/5, we will be organising high-profile public events focusing on the intersections of our work in Scotland, the UK, and around the globe, occasional seminars, and a writing workshop for early careers/PG researchers. We also have a small budget to support the initiatives of our members – including PGR students!
