Description

A Conversation on Lebanon. The Middle East Research Group at PIR is organizing a conversation with Dr. Wassim Mroue. The discussion will address the serious ramifications that the recent Israeli attacks have onthe future of both Lebanon and the whole region. The conversation will address and contextualise the most recent escalations that started with the ‘pager attacks’ on 17 September, followed by the assassination of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah on September 27th, and the ongoing bombardment of targets in different Lebanese cities and localities. Dr. Mroue is a Lebanese researcher  whose work focuses onintra-sectarian relations during and after civil wars, conflict and peace. He earned his PhD in politics from the UoE in 2021. Dr. Mroue recently completed an IASH-Alwaleed postdoctoral fellowship and had previously worked as a journalist and a national editor at the Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star. Dr. Nida Alahmad (PIR) will act as a discussant.
