Description

DemFutures is an initiative created by a group of PhD students at the University of Edinburgh. The initiative invites colleagues to create a space for those asking a shared question: how can research help build more democratic futures? It brings together diverse perspectives around this theme, spanning deliberative and participatory democracy, governance and policy, polarisation, and populism.

In October, DemFutures hosted a successful launch of the open-access book Climate Assemblies: New Civic Institutions for a Climate-Changed World. Building on this, the initiative is organising a series of Work-In-Progress hybrid sessions. Each session will feature one presenter and one discussant who will introduce the subject under discussion, followed by an open group conversation aimed at strengthening the work and exploring its broader implications, with a focus on sharing thoughtful, constructive feedback.

The first session will take place:

đź“… Thursday 27 November

⏰ 3:00–5:00pm

📍 40 George Square (and online)
