When preparing to conduct digital ethnography, we orient ourselves to what we might uncover going forward, but may overlook obtaining consent in following the desire to look backwards. Does complementing "live" insights from digital ethnography with digital archival research (e.g. the Wayback Machine) eclipse administrative consent? What issues warrant consideration that might not be intuitive? This workshop will be less oriented to work-in-progress feedback and more toward discussion of ethics and their application.
