EVENT CANCELLED - What do we know about perpetrators of domestic abuse against older adults? Emerging findings from a rapid project
Venue
Online or in-person event, TBCDescription
EVENT CANCELLED . This event is no longer going ahead and may be rescheduled later in the year.
While we have made significant advances in research, policy and legislation relating to domestic abuse in recent decades, most of these efforts have focused on responding to the problem and improving the rights and services offered to victims. Perpetrators have received less attention, and surprisingly little is known about the characteristics of perpetrators and 'what works' in preventing adults from perpetrating domestic abuse. Furthermore, our evidence concerning domestic abuse against older adults, both in terms of victims and perpetrators, is extremely limited. This presentation will present findings from the first UK study focusing on domestic abuse against older adults which has examined both victimisation and perpetration through a rapid evidence review, evaluation of a sample of case files held by adult safeguarding services, and interviews with professionals.
