Description
The global public health landscape continues to experience a profound and disruptive transformation following the inauguration of the 47th US President in Jan 2025. Sweeping policy shifts are bringing substantive changes to people’s lives through decisions to withdraw from WHO, closing USAID and dismantling the capabilities and authority of the CDC. These actions are reconfiguring the foundations of global public health action, knowledge production and cooperation that are so central to advancing equity.
Different actors are now scrambling to adapt to this rapidly evolving architecture. Countries—notably the UK— are implementing parallel budget reductions affecting the most vulnerable people. Questions about accountability, equity, and the future direction of global public health leadership are being revived, giving rise to a renewed mobilisation of civil society against policy changes.
Please join this GHPU Policy Pulse seminar to unpack these developments through multi-disciplinary conversations.
