Rethinking, Reformulating, and Repurposing: Exploring Multimodal Approaches and Artistic Practices in Social Science Research
Venue
EFI 3.52Description
In this masterclass, we examine the joys, benefits, and challenges of putting social science data into collaborative conversation with different public facing art forms including creative writing and narrative non-fiction, photography and film, and exhibitions. De León will also discuss his own convoluted career trajectory from “traditional” archaeologist to a public-facing anthropologist engaged in a variety of multimodal projects focused on the global social process of migration.
Students in this masterclass are asked to imagine a collaboration with an artist, filmmaker, curator, or researcher (living or dead, real or imagined) outside of their genre who could help them create a meaningful, nuanced, and new version of their current work.
Lunch will be from 12-1pm
