This seminar seeks to explore and unpack the theoretical and conceptual frameworks of citizenship and statelessness conundrums by exemplifying the life experiences of Bihari Muslims of Bangladesh, Sri Lankan Hill Country Tamils and the contemporary debates on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, India.
The presentation will use post colonial perspectives while analysing the Statelessness challenges rooted in Westphalian model of State building and contemporary identity politics in South Asia.
