Six School of Social and Political Science (SPS) colleagues received honours at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) Awards for their outstanding work.

The People of CAHSS Awards are a College-level peer awards scheme that showcases the values and behaviours of the College  community, and the people who embody them.

The SPS winners are:

  • Darrick Evensen (Senior Lecturer in Environmental Politics) - The Community Impact Award
  • Francis Emmerson (Technology Enhanced Learning Team Leader) - The Pillar of the Community Award
  • John Devaney (Head of School) - The Excellence in Leadership Award
  • Liz Richardson (Student Recruitment Assistant) - The Rising Star Award
  • Marie Craft (Head of Teaching and Student Administration) - The Pillar of the Community Award
  • Marie Storrar (Media and Content Officer) - The Inspiring Colleague Award

The award winners were announced at a ceremony on 28 May at The University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall.

Head of School John Devaney said: “It was a privilege to attend the recent People of CAHSS Awards, and to see colleagues have their important contributions recognised. The awards are a result of other colleagues nominating fellow staff members, which makes the awards extra special. In the School of Social and Political Science 160 nominations were made, and I appreciate the time that people took to make nominations in respect of colleagues. A very big well done to everyone who received an award in the School – all thoroughly deserved.”

Congratulations to all of the winners, and thank you to SPS staff who nominated others for the awards – it’s great to see so many deserving colleagues recognised!
