Congratulations to our 2024 School of Social and Political Science (SPS) graduates!
Winter graduation ceremonies – mostly for postgraduates but also some undergraduates – took place on Tuesday 26 and Thursday 28 November in McEwan Hall. More than 700 students graduated across the School’s six subject areas. Following the ceremonies, graduates and their families celebrated their achievements at receptions in Greyfriars Kirk on the Tuesday and the University’s Playfair Library on Thursday.
Professor John Devaney, Head of School at SPS, said: “On behalf of the School I would like to congratulate all of our graduates on their achievements. It was a privilege to see so many former students graduate and to hear from them what it has meant to study with the School of Social and Political Science. There was much talk about the high quality of teaching, and the opportunity to be taught by academics actively researching issues that were then discussed in the classroom. Many students also talked very positively about the support from professional services colleagues, especially in navigating some life challenges.”
The School also gave prizes to 29 graduates for exceptional performances in their studies. Professor Devaney handed out the prizes at a gathering of winners during the graduation receptions.
