Research interests

Research interests

My main research interests are devolved voting behaviour and comparative party politics, particularly the role of election pledges in representative democracy.

Background

Originally from Aberdeen, I obtained my PhD from the University of Strathclyde in 2019. After working on various postdoctoral projects at the University of Glasgow, I joined Edinburgh PIR in January 2024 as a Fellow in Territorial Politics. In November 2025 I moved into the post of Lecturer in Scottish Electoral Politics. Since 2021 I have been a member of the ESRC-funded Scottish Election Study (SES) team, leading the launch and development of the project's ongoing Scottish Opinion Monitor polling series, and am currently a Co-Investigator on the 2026 SES.
