Background

My PhD project "Care and Choices in Sustainable Agricultural Development" is a feminist narrative of home gardens and farming in Myanmar. This work examines the interwoven realities of neocolonialism and exploitation in the Shan mountains of Myanmar calling for agricultural development to transform into a food justice approach that could address Myanmar’s history of ethnic oppression and military power over the land. Among my in-depth study of agricultural development in Myanmar, I examine the potential for a politics of interdependent care and particularly soil care in the call for a regenerative future.
