Prof Bukuluki is an internationally known scholar with expertise in social work, medical anthropology with an excellent track record of teaching, research and publication. He is a highly sought-after research collaborator and has published widely on the area of his expertise
Background
Prof Bukuluki is a well-known academic scholar based at Makerere University. His academic field is broadly social work and medical Anthropology with over 20 years of experience in teaching, mentoring and conducting academic and implementation science research in several fields linked to social determinants of health including social and gender norms, mental health and social protection with a focus on adolescents and young people in development and humanitarian settings. He is also an expert in applying the intersectionality lens into programming to foster gender and social inclusion to take into consideration other social identities that combine with gender such as disability, ethnicity, poverty, residence, age among others to influence risk and vulnerability. Prof Bukuluki has a well-established body of scholarship, who has authored and co-authored 67 peer reviewed published journal articles and book chapters that focus on mental health broadly including suicide and psychosocial support particularly among vulnerable groups like adolescents, young people in formal settlements and urban refugees and refugees living in refugee settlements. He has been a mentor to students from the Global South and Global North Universities conducting research to earn their masters and PhD Degrees. He has supervised Five (5) PhD students and twenty-five (25) masters’ degree students to completion.
