Description
This workshop consists of two parts: It starts by identifying and addressing common issues of poor scholarship, its main occurrences, and the misunderstandings that underlie them.
Building on this, a second part explores how to avoid these issues, by introducing techniques for how to effectively paraphrase and summarise.
This workshop includes some light-touch writing exercises, so make sure you bring your laptop or any other device / paper you can write on.
This workshop is open to all MSc students in the School of Social and Political Science (SPS) students.
This workshop is being led by Dr Martin Booker, senior tutor in Sociology at SPS, and author of the blog The Critical Turkey.
If you have any questions at all about this workshop, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Student Development Office at ssps.student-development@ed.ac.uk
