Description
Learning how to read effectively is an essential skills for university. Our session will look at what and why we read – the different types of sources that you will use, how you can present your reading in different contexts and how to ensure that you are critically engaging with the text.
We’ll also look at:
- The structure of a reading – understanding the different components of the piece and how to follow the argument
- Evaluating sources for reliability and bias
- Being a critical reader
- Making effective notes
This session is required for the Academic Skills Development Certificate.
