Description

When one walks into a room, one senses an atmosphere; political affinities and disagreements are expressed in more than words. The look and shape of things have long been understood as political. How can we extend research to include multi-sensory evidence?  The stakes are high; the issues on the table go to the heart of social research as they involve fundamental questions of method and our conceptions of the political. Prior to the session, Hattam will circulate two short texts that will serve as the starting point for conversation. In a workshop-style format, Hattam will discuss her work on visuality and sound; participants will be encouraged to probe the multi-sensory aspects of their own research.

Workshop is open to PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. A paper will be shared with participants to read ahead of the workshop.

Light lunch will be served during the workshop.

Registration: limited spaces. Please contact Dr. Nida Alahmad.
