Description
Smartphones are amazing field companions, and they are at their most fun and provocative when you misuse their capacities. While photogrammetry is most commonly employed to produce 3-3-d models of objects suitable to be inserted into augmented or virtual reality settings, as a field experimentation technology it is very productive for exploring realness, memory, AI, and any number of other themes. Using downloadable apps, we will use photogrammetry to create intentionally 'bad' 3-d objects, using them as tethers for ethnographic questions, musings, and flights of fancy.
To prepare, please do have a suitable app installed and ready to go. That will save us workshop time!
Newer Iphones have built in lidar, which can create 3-d objects. Since I am rabidly pro-Android, I can't give you more info about how it works or how to find it!
I personally use Polycam, which has a free version that will be just fine for this workshop.
This class is limited to 15 participants, so please book using the link below. Lunch will be served at the end of class.
