School of Social and Political Science (SPS) academics Dr Andrea Birdsall and Dr Jared Holley will become editors of the Global Constitutionalism (GlobCon) journal, as it moves to the University of Edinburgh.
The journal, published by Cambridge University Press, is moving from the University of Southampton to the University of Edinburgh and will be jointly supported by SPS and Edinburgh Law School.
Along with Dr Birdsall and Dr Holley, a number of Edinburgh Law School academics are also joining the journal’s editorial team: Professor Jo Shaw, Editor; Dr Robert Naylor, Managing Editor; and Professor Neil Walker, Editorial Board.
The journal gives the opportunity for both schools to solidify and strengthen existing connections and to help foster new partnerships. The partnership builds on longstanding intellectual, research and teaching collaborations between colleagues in Edinburgh Law School and the Politics and International Relations (PIR) subject area in SPS.
First published in 2012, GlobCon offers interdisciplinary space for addressing the foundations, limitations and contestations of the principles and norms of political order and their dynamics over time on a global scale. The journal tackles contemporary issues such as the rise in populism, rising geopolitical tensions, and other challenges to political order, exploring how such challenges interact with existing norms and political structures.
Dr Birdsall and Dr Holley, who work in the PIR subject area in SPS, said: “We are very excited about Global Constitutionalism having moved to Edinburgh. We are looking forward to strengthening and solidifying our existing connections across disciplines in partnership with the Law School.”
