Background

Charlene is currently undertaking her PhD in Social Work. Her doctoral research explores Social Work Education and Training with a focus on partnering with fathers who perpetuate abusive behaviours.

Prior to commencing her studies at the University of Edinburgh, Charlene obtained a Masters in Social Work at Robert Gordon University, a Masters in Research and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Sociology at Queen Margaret University. Alongside her studies, she is also a Children and Families Social Worker. 

Charlene is a passionate advocate on all issues surrounding Domestic Abuse, having worked with victims, perpetrators and children in various capacities for over 20 years, in amongst which, she was a Director and Strategic Lead at Women's Aid East and Midlothian.
