Research interests
My research interests centre around Just Energy Transitions and associated societal, political and economic impacts. I am particularly interested in how we can make large scale societal and systemic transitions just and how to address underlying inequalities as we work towards a more sustainable future. Much of my work is centred around Scotland’s energy industry, which holds unique social and economic value to the country and its people. My PhD “Transformative Skills in the Energy Just Transition: mixed-methods Pathways for Upskilling and Reskilling in Scotland" aims to understand the role of skills and skills development in addressing justice concerns across the energy workforce and industry stakeholders in a transition to Net Zero.
PhD Supervisor Team: Dr Kirsten Jenkins (Edinburgh University), Dr Craig Anderson (Stirling University), Dr Dan van der Horst (Edinburgh University), Dr Allison Carrington (Skills Development Scotland)
Background
My background is in Environmental Geography at Stirling University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in 2021. My undergraduate degree provided me with a good understanding of climate science and the environmental impacts of our current climate crisis. Throughout the third year of my undergraduate degree, I developed my interest in energy systems, which led me to pursue the MSc in Energy, Society and Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh.
I have experience with quantitative and qualitative methods alike, as well as spatial analysis.
